Arts Co-op Birthday Bash

In celebration of it’s first birthday Pollok Co-op took a strong initiative for the benefit of Awhitu artists
by organizing an art competition, exhibition and auction for painters, potters, sculptors, and photographers
in the district.
With a theme titled “Light of the Manukau” the event had the full support of the Manukau Heads
Lighthouse Trust Inc. The idea being to use the 135 years old lighthouse as inspiration for creativity in
paint, photo, stone, wood, bone or other static mediums. Congratulations to Jim Ayers who was judged
the winner of the competition by a panel of eminent judges!
A varied and interesting programme of sub-events associated with “Light of the Manukau” is planned
througout October and November. For more information about future events, contact the Co-op at 2352225 or

FACT hosts a wide range of activities at Franklin the Centre and beyond. Explore the events listed below, or go to the What's On at FACT page to see a day-by-day activities listing.

Upcoming Events
  • Craft Fair  4/12/2008

This year Franklin: The Centre will be hosting a number of special events in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
Bookinopolis, Franklin Arts and Cultural Trust and Mocca are all combining their efforts to host two separate Market days:
The first market day will be a CRAFT FAIR on Thursday the 4th of December from 9:30am – 3pm .
We are looking for entrepreneurial and community spirited individuals OR businesses to showcase their products on these two days.  We are really focussed on providing something different to the people of Franklin for Christmas; one-off items that are handmade and unique.   If you are making beautiful products which would make great gifts you could do very well with our high foot-traffic and art-focused demographic.
The way to mark your spot on our Foyer floor is to get in early with a $10 dollar note, which is the cost of table for the day.  Contact Lynda at Bookinopolis immediately as we only have so many spaces. We would also like to know early who will be participating in these events so we can send you further information.

  • Produce Market  11/12/2008

This year Franklin: The Centre will be hosting a number of special events in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
Bookinopolis, Franklin Arts and Cultural Trust and Mocca are all combining their efforts to host two separate Market days:
The second market day will be a PRODUCE MARKET on the 11th of December from 9:30am – 3pm.

We like to hear from growers and producers of luscious looking things to eat- Everyone prefers to buy healthy produce locally and it is an obvious opportunity to introduce your business or raise the profile of your brand in the community.  Since all the organisers of this event are women we would like to send out a special shout-out to those who might be in possession of chocolate.

Other things we thought would be fantastic are speciality cheeses, deli foods, meats, preserves, honey, baking, fresh veggies, cultural food.

The way to mark your spot on our Foyer floor is to get in early with a $10 dollar note, which is the cost of table for the day.  Contact Lynda at Bookinopolis immediately as we only have so many spaces. We would also like to know early who will be participating in these events so we can send you further information.
