Matariki 2009 - 26th June - 10th July 2009

The Franklin Arts and Cultural Trust in conjunction with the Huakina Development Trust and Whariki O Te Ao produced the Matariki festival in Franklin during June - July 2009. The festival featured public talks, an art exhibition, performances, a cooking class, and market stalls All of these events were provided by volunteers free of charge.
Matariki will now be celebrated annually at Franklin: The Centre and we look forward to an even greater event next year.
Matariki 2008 - 5th - 20th June 2008
The Franklin Arts and Cultural Trust in conjunction with the Huakina Development Trust produced the first ever Matariki festival in Franklin during June 2008. The festival featured public talks, children's activities, a bus trip, an art exhibition, performances, market stalls and a ceremonial beginning and end. All of these events were provided by volunteers free of charge, and we can estimate that at least 2000 people took part in these events.


Burns Supper January 26, 2008
50 guests at Franklin: The Centre joined thousands of people world-wide who celebrated poet Robert Burns' birthday with this traditional evening of Scottish food, Burns poetry and speeches. Pukekohe Pipe Band presented the haggis and diners enjoyed a quiz and costume competition.
Grand Opening of Franklin: The Centre 30 June, 2007
Franklin: The Centre opened with a feast of sights and sounds. The E-PACS Lion Dancers entertained guests (stage front row, right to left) Mayor Mark Ball, Governor-General the Honourable Anand Satyanand, PCNZM, his wife Susan, Minister for Auckland Issues the Hon. Judith Tizard, former New Zealand Steel President Bill Jacob, and Weta Workshop founder Richard Taylor.
