Creative Communities
FACT would like to call for applicants to the Creative Communities programme, its annual pot of funds given by Creative New Zealand for distribution to community projects in Franklin.
Funds are available for community-based art activities which increase local participation in the arts, increase the range and diversity of arts available, or enhance and strengthen the local arts sector. Projects which are eligible for funding include:
- Events or festivals.
- Personnel costs for one-off short-term projects.
- Costs associated with artist-in-residence schemes.
- Promotional activities
- Materials for an event or activitity.
- Seminars or workshops.
- Equipment purchase (up to 50% of purchase price) for a legally constituted group.
- Dance that has an arts or cultural focus.
- School-based projects that are outside the school's normal activities and provide benefits for the wider community.
The following cannot be funded:
- Facility development
- Purchase of artworks for gallaries.
- Ongoing administration costs.
- Projects which have already been completed.
- Servicing of debts.
- Catering.
- Salaries.
FACT is streamlining the application process by setting four deadlines for 2009: 31 January, 30 April, 31 July, and 31 October. Applications will be considered by committee and decisions will be communicated 2-4 weeks following each deadline. Projects must not have begun before an application is submitted and considered, so applicants must be careful to choose the deadline that allows sufficient advance time for this process.
Application to the scheme is made by a form, available for downloading here. Groups wishing to discuss their ideas before completing the form are encouraged to contact FACT General Manager Aliah Jan.
FACT Annual Grants
Groups which plan to hold a special project but which does not qualify for Creative Communities Funding can approach FACT for a special grant from the Trust’s own funds. Please contact the General Manager for more details.
